I first discovered Retna when I went to the MOCA a couple years ago. His graffiti art style is like Egyptian hieroglyphics meets Arabic writing, and I find it cryptically beautiful. So you can imagine my joy when I found out about these murals, thanks to this Racked LA article.
This black and white Retna is rather small and located next to a restaurant called Craig’s.
While in the neighborhood I also happened to stumble across another (much larger) Retna mural that is literally a block or two away from the black and white Retna. It is painted on a parking structure wall, so it’s quite tall and hard to miss if you’re driving/walking around in the area.
I love this one. The blue lettering was just so gorgeous in the afternoon light.
